Martin House Hospice
When Martin House opened its doors to children and their families in 1987, it became only the second children's hospice in the UK. Since that time it has played a leading role in the development of the philosophy and delivery of children's hospice care, not only in the UK but throughout the world.
In 2012 The Dean Court Hotel teamed up with Martin House to raise funds for this worthy cause by ‘selling’ Marty Bear to our guests. Patrons can take him home in return for a donation to the charity.
The response has been phenomenal and to date our guests have raised and amazing £27,000.
Marty has become so popular that he has decided to announce the launch of ‘Marty’s Adventures’, a light-hearted look at what he gets up to from day to day.
In his spare time he will be writing a blog and sending us his latest experiences as he travels around the world and beyond!
If you would like to be one of Marty’s travelling companions you can pick him up from Reception or in our hotel rooms. All we ask is that you leave a donation (minimum £5 please) with all proceeds going to Martin House Children’s Hospice. Why not send us a picture with a brief description of where he is. Please send your pictures to:
and we will publish a selection on our social media sites which you can view online at Facebook OR Twitter.
We interviewed Marty recently about the launch and here’s what he had to say:
“I get very tired at the Dean Court Hotel – they work me hard! Please take me with you, I am only small and can easily fit in your suitcase. I like going on adventures, travelling around and meeting new people. In return I am writing a blog telling you all about my exploits. Click here to read Marty's Blog”
Enjoy your travels Marty, we look forward to hearing all about them!
