Celebrate Christmas and New Year at The Dean Court

Yours was one of our best ever hotel experiences. Every consideration was given by your staff. It made our visit as good as it could possibly be.

Christmas Eve
Thursday December 24th
After arrival and settling in, fit in some last minute Christmas shopping, seeing the city bedecked and at its Christmassy best and busiest - before it closes for Christmas. Return in time to enjoy a delicious Afternoon Cream Tea, served in The Court Cafe Bistro & Bar until 5pm. (No reservations needed).
And this evening, from 6.30pm, join David Brooks and colleagues for a Champagne and Canapes Welcome Reception - with local Carol Singers who'll be with us around 7pm until approximately 8pm. Dinner is a 4-Course Menu - with an obvious emphasis on local produce, cooked skillfully, with traditional fayre at the heart of all our menus. And with a great choice of drinks and wines, there's every opportunity to indulge a little, and enjoy a superb Claret or top-flight Burgundy, or dwell over a fine cognac œ purely to help the digestion, of course! After all what better time is there to spoil oneself?
Midnight Mass at York Minster with it being so popular the queues start at eleven - but there is the thought of a night-cap of warming mulled wine and mince pies to welcome you back afterwards.
Christmas Day
Friday December 25th
After a Deliciously Yorkshire Christmas Day Breakfast, the morning is free for a walk on the walls or a saunter round peaceful York œ but don't miss 12.15pm, for a glass or two of Champagne, before Butter-roasted Yorkshire reared Turkey, homemade Christmas Pudding, that's been maturing since October, and all the other traditional dishes that make for a Grand 5-Course Christmas Day Lunch.
After that it's a relaxing afternoon -you've earned it!
Christmas Day Evening features a Grand Carving Buffet served from 7.30pm ¹œtil 9pm. Whole Salmon, Sirloin of Beef, Seafood and Salads all before you - and more besides. No set seating this evening. (The hotel is closed to non-residents).
Boxing Day
Saturday 26th December
This years Boxing Day Adventure is to THE DEEP, one of the most spectacular aquariums in the world. This award winning Yorkshire family attraction is home to 40 sharks and over 3,500 fish. The dramatic building designed by Sir Terry Farrell is located in Hull on the Humber Estuary, just an hour from York. The Deep is operated as a charity dedicated to increasing enjoyment and understanding of the world's oceans. Behind the scenes a team of dedicated marine biologists care for all of the animals at The Deep as well as carrying out vital research into the marine environment.
We aim to leave the hotel at 10.30am prompt, travelling in an air-conditioned coach, (please meet in the foyer in good time). You will be accompanied by Wendy Brooks, the Hotel's fully trained guide. Plans are to return at about 4.30pm. This will give plenty of time before and after Lunch to see all that this exciting venue has to offer. Lunch is a modest affair- a break from the festive fayre œ but enough to see everyone through to the Boxing Day 4-Course finale Dinner! Alternatively there is the legend that is Berwick Kaler, the country's most highly acclaimed Pantomime star. Berwick won the prestigious title of Ambassador of York- earlier this year in VISIT YORK'S Annual Tourism ¹œOscars'. More importantly the UK's most famous Dame will star in his 31st York Panto, Humpty Dumpty. We have a limited amount of tickets for the Boxing Day Pantomime Matinee at 2.30pm and the tickets are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis. Lunch beforehand in The Court Cafe-Bistro & Bar is included too. Please grab a table early to avoid delays.
