Introduction/Statement of Commitment/Mission:
We are committed to the continuous improvement of our environmental performance, including energy aspects. We aim to minimise the environmental impacts of our activities, whilst providing cost-saving benefits. We recognise the significant impact that our energy use has on the natural environment, on the use of finite fossil fuels, and on our finances.
Responsibility: Whilst all employees have a role to play the following are key to the implementation of the Hotel’s policy
Overall strategy: Management team. Maintenance Dep.
Implementation: All Management and Heads of Department.
Objectives:
Our Organisation will comply with all relevant environmental legislation, regulation and any other requirements to which the Company is subject. We will implement a structured energy management system which will include: policy, organisational structure, monitoring and target setting, involvement and training of employees, work procedures, procurement, effective investment and reporting.
Our commitment to reducing our energy consumption will aim to:
- Eliminate all forms of energy waste, thus reducing energy costs and CO2 emissions.
- Monitor, evaluate and report performance levels against the agreed targets and review these annually.
- Establish performance improvement targets, related to energy consumed per m2 of building floor area, production levels … etc).
- Establish an Energy/Environment Team.
- Increase awareness of energy efficiency amongst all employees and provide necessary training.
- Invest in worthwhile and cost-effective energy efficient projects having regard to life-cycle running costs.
- Where practical, liaise with suppliers and customers, to increase energy efficiency.
- Increasing our use of renewable energy, as appropriate.
- Liaise with other organisations to share good practice, including energy procurement and the purchase of ‘green’ electricity.
Targets: Specific targets relating to the objectives above:
- Implement a structured M&T system, by September 2008.
- Develop action plans, with deadlines, for the Priority objectives as recommended in the Carbon Trust’s Energy
- Assessment, by November 2008.
- Achieve or exceed the agreed target for energy efficiency improvements by:-
- a 17.15% saving on current costs - after 1 yr of implementing Priorities 1,2,3,4,5 &8
- a 28% saving on current costs - after 1 yr of implementing Priorities 6 & 7
- a 34% saving on current costs - after 1 yr of implementing Priorities 9 &10
Communication:
This policy will be given to all employees, displayed on notice-boards, featured on the Company’s website and made available to visitors.
